We are mainly interested in host insect-microbe-pathogen interactions from molecular mechanisms underlying the interactions to ecological aspects and evolutionary implications. We try to integrate molecular biology, physiology and evolutionary ecology to address fundamental and applied aspects of these interactions with emphasis on insect pest control. We are also investigating methods to manipulate these interactions in insect vectors of plant diseases to interfere with pathogen transmission.
Other interests:
-Targeting insect pest by using biotechnological approaches such as CRISPR/Cas9 and RNAi-based strategies
- Microbial control of insect pests and vectors
- Biotechnological applications of insects and their symbionts
